GPA/CGPA Calculation Revision

Notice : This page is for reference only. Applications for Grade omission is no longer open and any backdated request will no longer be entertained.
This calculation is only applicable for approved applications made for Semester 2, 2021 results.

FAQ

    What is Pass and Fail Grades?

    Pass Grades are HD to P and SP (marks within 50 — 100 meanwhile Fail Grades are N & SN (marks within 0 — 49).

    How and where to get the Grade Point?

    Our Grading Scale can be referred from Swinburne Website Click HERE or you can refer to our Academic Courses Regulations for more details.

    To omit FAIL grades from GPA/CGPA calculation, do I have to apply?

    No. It is auto excluded and the revised calculation has been reflected in your Student Portal and Statement of Results.

    To omit PASS grades from GPA/CGPA calculation, do I have to apply? When is the submission dateline? Where should I submit it to?

    Yes. Click HERE for the application form (UPDATE: Form is no longer available). The submission must be made via email to Graduation, Assessment and Student Progression team at erm@Swinburne.edu.my within 10 working days after result publication.

    If I missed the submission dateline, can my application still be considered?

    No and the application form will no longer be made available.

    Is it for all semesters?

    NO, it is applicable for Semester 2, 2021 or September/October 2021 results ONLY.

    Is it applicable for all programs or units in Swinburne Sarawak?

    Not applicable for Postgraduate (Research), ELICOS, Single Unit of Study (SUS) and MPU Units.

    What are the Honours unit (for Engineering Courses only)?

Any FAILED units in Semester 2, 2021 or September/October 2021 is automatically excluded from GPA and CGPA Calculation. It will also not be reflected in the Academic Transcript. However, the failed units MUST be REPEATED in the subsequent semesters.

GPA Calculation
Total grade Point ÷ No. of Units Enrolled
= (4.00 + 3.67 + 3.00 +1.67) ÷ 4
=12.34 ÷ 4
=3.09

GPA Calculation
Total grade Point ÷ No. of Passed Units ONLY
= (4.00 + 3.67 + 3.00 +1.67) ÷ 3
=12.34 ÷ 3
=3.56

CGPA Calculation
Total Grade Point ÷ No. of Units Enrolled in Semester 2, 2021 and previous semesters INCLUDING failed units

CGPA Calculation
Total Grade Point ÷ No. of Units Enrolled in Semester 2, 2021 and previous semesters EXCLUDING failed units in Semester 2, 2021 ONLY.

Other than FAILED units, student can also APPLY to omit any PASSED units from GPA/CGPA and Honours Calculation. The revised grade is with an asterisk (*) and to be reflected in the Academic Transcript. The passed unit CANNOT be repeated in the subsequent semester

=3.84

CGPA Calculation
Total Grade Point ÷ No. of Units Enrolled in Semester 2, 2021 and previous semesters INCLUDING failed units.

CGPA Calculation
Total Grade Point ÷ No. of Units Enrolled in Semester 2, 2021 and previous semesters EXCLUDING failed and applied passing units in Semester 2, 2021 ONLY.
