KUCHING – In conjunction with the month-long What About Kuching 2019 (WAK 2019) festival, the Swinburne Photomedia and Design club launched their Photography Exhibition for Discover Kuching with the aim to showcase and promote Kuching lifestyle and culture through photographs.
The exhibition was open to the public and was held from 5 to 11 October 2019 at The Hills. The event also aimed to gather many local photography enthusiasts from different parts of Sarawak who share a common interest in photography and Kuching city.
The launching event was attended by Guest of Honour, former Member of Parliament for Stampin Julian Tan who represented Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia Chong Chieng Jen; Swinburne Sarawak’s Registrar and Director of Student Engagement Esty binti Mohd Sharkawi; and Head of School of Design and Arts Associate Professor Ida Fatimawati binti Adi Badiozaman.

At the exhibition, the student club sold photographs and merchandise items where the sale proceeds were used to purchase household products and food for Hope Place Kuching. Hope Place Kuching is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to alleviating the plight of the poor and the deprived.
