KUCHING – Scholarships for 15 students enrolling into engineering programs at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus are now open for application.
The Bestari scholarships, made available by Yayasan Sarawak, are offered to those undertaking foundation and degree studies at the university.
The Bestari scholarship covers annual semester fees including registration, examinations and facilities fees, and living allowance as well as allowances for transportation, books, thesis (if any), and computer. On-campus accommodation is provided to students from outside Kuching.
The closing date for the scholarship application is 15 August, 2012.
To be eligible, applicants of the foundation in engineering program must have completed SPM in 2011 and attained straight As including Additional Mathematics or Physics. After completion, the student is required to continue with a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Swinburne Sarawak.
Those interested to pursue its bachelor’s degree in engineering must have completed matriculation, pre-university, A-level, diploma, STPM or its equivalent and attained a CGPA of 3.5 and above, or straight As in STPM to be eligible for the scholarship.
Swinburne Sarawak offers a one-year foundation program in engineering, and a host of degree programs: civil, electrical and electronic, mechanical, robotics and mechatronics, and telecommunications and network engineering.
Its undergraduate engineering programs are accredited by Engineers Australia while the Board of Engineers Malaysia has certified its majors in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronic, as well as robotics and mechatronics.
Apart from Bestari, the university also offers a range of other scholarships and study loans. Scholarships from private corporations for a variety of disciplines are also available at Swinburne Sarawak.
