Associate Professor – Multimedia Design [fixed-term contract]

The School of Design and Arts is seeking an accomplished academic to fill the role of Associate Professor in Multimedia Design. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate units, supervising Masters by research and PhD candidates, and contributing to the school’s creative and scholarly environment.

This senior academic position requires a candidate with a strong teaching portfolio and a distinguished research background in Multimedia Design or related fields. The successful applicant will lead the development and delivery of courses, supervise research projects, and play a key role in enhancing the intellectual and creative life of the School. Expertise in areas such as digital media, interactive design, visual communication, and multimedia production, along with interdisciplinary teaching methods, is highly valued. The role offers the opportunity to drive both traditional and innovative design practices and to expand the School’s impact in multimedia and digital arts.

Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in Multimedia Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or related disciplines.
  • A significant track record of teaching at the tertiary level in multimedia design or related programs.

Successful candidates will be expected to convene and teach undergraduate units of study in the School of Design and Arts in academic disciplines related to 3D modelling & animation and motion graphics in Multimedia Design and their research expertise. In addition, the ability to teach a wide range of design subjects including web design, traditional and digital publishing, branding, experiential design, photography and image production will be an added advantage. A relevant PhD from a recognised institution and registration with a professional body are required. Candidates with a professional qualification (PEng, IPEA/APEC Engineer) or those progressing towards the qualification are desirable. The candidates should have experience in teaching in higher education. The experience in fostering partnerships between academia and industry is an advantage. In addition, they should demonstrate proven track record of substantial research output and significant impact.
