Swinburne to hold Pre-U Open Day this Saturday, Sunday

KUCHING – Students who have completed SPM will be able to obtain more information on foundation programs at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Pre-U Open Day this Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 March.

The event, which will be held at the university’s campus in Jalan Simpang Tiga, will be opened from 10am to 5pm.

Students and their parents will have the opportunity to obtain more information on Swinburne Sarawak’s foundation programs with a major in business, design, information technology/multimedia, and engineering/science. These secure direct entry into the university’s wide range of degree programs.

As a foreign branch campus, Swinburne Sarawak’s programs are identical to those offered by its home campus in Melbourne, and its graduates are awarded the same internationally-recognised Australian degree.

Course counselors will be available to entertain any queries and guide parents and their university-going children in making better-informed decision on higher education.

A talk by senior academics on courses of study will be held for the benefit of parents and their children. Associate Professor Wang Su Chen, Head of the School of Language and Foundation, will elaborate on the four foundation courses.

Senior academics from the schools of Engineering, Computing and Science, and Business and Design will speak on the respective programs that are available at Swinburne Sarawak.

For students who are undecided on the course of study to pursue, the university’s 10-minute aptitude test will serve as a guide. Based on the result of the test, counselors will advice students on suitable areas of study.

In order to apply for courses, students are requested to bring along a copy of their academic results, identity card and birth certificate.

There are currently more than 3,000 students pursuing a variety of studies at Swinburne Sarawak. International students hail from more than 40 countries. In the next three years, the student population is expected to reach 5,000.
