KUCHING – A seminar on “Building Information Modelling: A Singapore experience” will be held at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, on 5 July.
Jointly organised by Swinburne Sarawak and the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) Sarawak Branch, it will be held from 8:30am to 1pm.
The lecture will discuss the various strategies and programs formulated to overcome the challenges faced by the industry in adopting Building Information Modelling (BIM).
BIM has been identified as a key technology that will transform the Singapore construction industry to achieve higher productivity and capability over the next 10 years. A roadmap was formulated in mid-2010 to spearhead the adoption of BIM in Singapore by 2015.
The seminar will be conducted by Eddy Tan C.T. who is the vice-president of novaCITYNETS Pte Ltd, Singapore.
Tan initiated some of the BIM pilot projects for contractors and consultants in Singapore and the UAE, and led the Virtual Construction Division to promote BIM and CAFM technology to the building and construction industry in Southeast Asia.
A registered resident engineer with Building and Construction Authority Singapore since 1995, Tan has designed and supervised numerous condominium and factory projects in Singapore and Malaysia.
Professional engineers, consultants, contract administrators and employers are encouraged to attend the seminar.
Professional engineers registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia are eligible for four CPD hours. A certificate will also be issued, subject to full attendance.
The deadline for registration is 3 July.
