Aims and learning outcomes
This unit aims to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge of physics. The knowledge gained and the problem-solving skills developed will prepare students for undergraduate studies in applied science and engineering.
Students who successfully complete this unit should be able to:
- Identify the symbols and units for a wide range of physical quantities and describe their definitions
- Discuss the basic principles underlying the physics of physical science using both written and oral communication
- Apply the principles of physical science to solve conceptual and numerical problems in simple systems
- Conduct practical investigations safely and confidently, following instructions or guidelines and use appropriate terminology and format in reporting results of investigations
