Aims and learning outcomes
This unit aims to introduce students to knowledge in biology and fundamental structural units that define the function of all living things.
Students who successfully complete this unit should be able to:
- Describe the fundamental structural units that define the function of all living things.
- Explain the diversity of life as it evolved over time by processes of mutation, selection and genetic change.
- Explain the basic concepts of evolution and speciation.
- Describe and explain the earth and its interrelated components.
- Demonstrate knowledge and practical skills of using essential instruments and tools for problem solving.
- Describe the potential ethical issues and relevant regulations in biology.
