KUCHING – GradX 2024, proudly organised by Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ School of Design and Arts, was a remarkable showcase of the creative talents of final-year students from the university’s Multimedia Design, Graphic Design and Management & Digital Media programs.
Held from 9 to 10 December 2024 at Swinburne Sarawak’s Borneo Atrium, the event welcomed members of the public to explore the students’ creative works firsthand. The official launch took place on 9 December, marking the beginning of an inspiring two-day exhibition.
GradX, short for “Graduate Final Year Exhibition”, is an annual showcase where students present their industry-ready projects, highlighting their creativity, skills and readiness to lead in the fields of design and innovation.
This year’s exhibition featured a diverse collection of works, including interactive media, animations, illustrations, branding concepts, photography and impactful campaigns. The exhibition also included projects by the university’s Diploma of Digital Media Design students, further expanding the range of creative displays.
Reflecting on the journey leading up to GradX 2024, this year’s graduating students shared that the process of developing their projects was both challenging and rewarding. They described the experience as an intense but fulfilling journey that pushed their creativity and technical skills to new heights. From collaborating within teams to overcoming the complexities of interactive design, the students expressed pride in their accomplishments and the opportunity to present their work to a wider audience.
Ts Michael Lee, curator and advisor for GradX, described the event as the most awaited showcase of the year for the School of Design and Arts.
“GradX celebrates the talent, creativity and hard work of our students. From 3D animations and interactive games to corporate identities and publications, every project showcases the unique vision and skills of our graduates,” he said.
GradX provides a platform for students to share their work with the public, connect with industry professionals and build their networks. It also allows attendees, including faculty members, family, friends and members of the community, to appreciate the dedication behind each project, while offering students valuable feedback to enhance their craft.
