Triple honours for Swinburne’s academic at the Golden Globe Tigers

KUCHING  Swinburne’s Head of School of Business Associate Professor Dr Lim Weng Marc was honoured with three award citations at the sixth edition of the Golden Globe Tigers held at Le Méridien, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Dr Lim, who is from the Faculty of Business, Design and Arts, received the awards from Tan Sri Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Airlines. Each of Dr Lim’s award citation in the Education Leadership category consists of a certificate and a memento.

The Golden Globe Tigers is an event held annually across different countries in Asia since 2013. The awards recognise the ‘tigers’ in branding, corporate social responsibility, education, marketing, and social innovation at all leadership levels.

Dr Lim’s nomination for the awards was proposed by an advisory council of academics and industry professionals across the globe in recognition of his excellence in higher education teaching, research and leadership through secondary market research data and evaluation at Swinburne’s Sarawak campus.

Commenting on the awards, Dr Lim said the real prize for an academic is the impact that they create along the way.

“Competing is exciting and winning is exhilarating, but what is more significant is the effect or influence we leave behind such as the success of students whom we nurture, the communities whose life we improve, and most importantly, the people whom we inspire to aspire,” said Dr Lim.

As the head of the Swinburne business school, Dr Lim is an eminent and prolific researcher who is interested in business, consumer and government (BCG) research. His first and sole-authored works have been accepted and published in more than 30 journals ranked “A-star” and “A” by the Australian Business Deans Council and Excellence in Research Australia journal ranking lists.

The accomplishments of Swinburne’s business school, under Dr Lim’s leadership, is also noteworthy. To date, the school has contributed to a myriad of high level international discussions on business education and socio-economic policies, such as at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Meeting on Entrepreneurship Education and the World Economic Forum’s ASEAN meeting.

The school has also published in numerous top tier business journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Business-to-Business Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Strategic Marketing, and Industrial Marketing Management.

Other business journals include Marketing Intelligence and Planning, Marketing Theory, International Journal of Manpower, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Event Management, Tourism Management Perspectives, Journal of Leisure Research, and Education + Training.

Swinburne is highly ranked in prestigious world academic ranking lists.
